Chapter 25

Seth felt he had been sleeping for well over a day, but when he opened his eyes, only a few hours had passed. He wanted to rest more but didn't have the option to.

Apparently, after he had passed out, a few adventurers that had run away during the fight between the abyssal horror and the king centry had returned, noticing that the tremors had ceased. It seemed like only four of them had survived in the end aside from Rebecca's group, which was protected by her barrier.

Jules wanted to search for more of them, but they all decided that it was not a wise decision. None of them had any energy, and both Rebecca and Seth needed better treatment and rest.

That's why, with the other adventurers, they all walked towards the exit.

"I can't believe I'm finally going to be out of this hellhole!" Seth let out a relieved breath as he climbed up the stairs, the slope apparently leading outside the Tunnels of Grithza.

He could already see the difference. The tunnel was carved directly out of stone, and the stone stairs were far more comfortable than the damp and dusty grounds of the dungeon. Torches were set on either side of the stairs at regular intervals, making it easy to navigate. The entrance was hidden behind a large door that he would have easily missed if not for the others.

"You have a lot of energy for someone who almost lost his life fighting a lizard chieftain half a day back," Jules remarked, looking at Seth's brisk movements.

His injuries hadn't healed fully, and he needed more rest. His clothes were reduced to rags that were soiled and red with dried blood. There were cut marks and wounds all over his body. They all were in a bad condition, but Seth was hit the worst, having fought a lot of lizards and even the chieftain. Yet he was quite energetic.

"It's because I will finally be out of this place. Don't you feel happy to be out?" he asked, and Jules nodded.

"Well, obviously." He gripped the shoulder strap of the bag on his back. "But I don't have as much energy as you."

"I just feel excited," he replied.

"I don't think we should make a lot of noise here," Rebecca advised, looking at Seth and Jules.

She was walking in the back, and her chest was covered in torn pieces of clothes, hastily bandaged by Elva and Vernon to stop the blood flow. She hadn't fully healed yet and would need the care of a superior healer once they got out to fully bandage the wound.

"Why is that?" Seth asked.

"Monsters sometimes stick to the shadows here and attack loud adventurers. Even during the construction of the stairs, they were—"

She looked into the shadows that were cast around due to the torches, and something leapt up at Seth, a frenzied blur as it screeched like a ghoul.

Everyone froze in their tracks, and a few adventurers looked around nervously, but Seth’s hand shot out in the air to his left, catching the thing that lunged at him with his hand, barely moving.
